Re: How many different "fermata" shells are possible?
An example of "fermata" shell number 72: "(2 intrecci) + (2 intrecci) + (2 intrecci)".
These photos were taken in the Province of Lecce on April 24th, 2010 preparing for the competition in the town of Castro by Amodio Di Matteo and brothers.
This shell with the superscription "2X 2X 2X" written on the outside indicate "(2 intrecci) + (2 intrecci) + (2 intrecci)". The complete effect is three successive breaks with in each break a mosaic of 7 color bombettes in "pampanella" = white, followed by a mosaic of 7 color bombettes in goldglitter.
There are 2 of this type of 21 cm caliber, 3-break shells in this evening display.
Crescenzo Di Matteo loading the first "fermata" shell with this superscription "2X 2X 2X". "2X" = 2 intrecci = 2 mosaic in succession. At the right side his oldest brother Amodio.
Antonio Di Matteo with the fermata shell for mortar number 4 of this serie. This shell has the superscription "OXO", this indicates "(controbomba + intreccio botti al titanio) + (controbomba)". Two of this type of 21 cm caliber, 2-break shells after the "2X 2X 2X".
A view of the mortars for this serie fermata shells. It starts at the left side with the first shell in the effect "(2 intrecci) + (2 intrecci) + (2 intrecci)" followed by a "(controbomba + intreccio botti al titanio) + (controbomba)", again a "(2 intrecci) + (2 intrecci) + (2 intrecci)" followed by a "(controbomba + intreccio botti al titanio) + (controbomba)". There are totally 10 cilindrical fermata shells of 21 cm caliber in this serie and at the end 6 green mortars of 30 cm caliber for the sferical fermata shells.

Re: How many different "fermata" shells are possible?
An example of "fermata" shell number 13: "(4 botti + intreccio) + (controbomba)".
These photos were taken in the Province of Naples on April 2nd, 2016 preparing for the Festival in the town of Somma Vesuviana. This shell with the superscription "4B X" written on the outside indicate "(4 botti + intreccio) + (controbomba)". The complete effect is in the first break 4 successive titaniumsalutebombettes followed by a mosaic of 4 colour bombettes in red and in the second break a bouquet with a heart of blue spherical stars and rings of red cylindrical stars.
Note: the "controbombe" are in different colour combinations!!
There are 4 of this type of 16 cm caliber, 2-break shells in this evening display.
In fact this "fermata" shell has a combination of three Italian effects, "scala": 4 successive titaniumsalutebombettes, "intreccio": a mosaic of 4 colour bombettes and a "controbomba": large bouquet with a pistil of round stars and rings of cylindrical stars. A "classic" in the Italian serie of fermate of 16 cm caliber!!
When you translate this eveningfermata to a daylightshell it becomes: "(4 botti + ripresa) + (controcolpo)".
I don't know if there has been fired once a fermata in the double effect so: "(scala a 8 botti) + (2 intrecci) + (controbomba) + (controbomba)". So 4 breaks. Did anyone see this effect?
At the left side Michele Caiazza taking the fermata with this superscription from Pasquale Allocca.

Re: How many different "fermata" shells are possible?
An example of the "fermata" shell number 339: "(stutata) + (controbomba)".
These photos were taken in the Province of Salerno on August 17th, 2016 preparing for the competition in the town of Siano by the company of Raffaele Bruscella and Raffaele Pellicani from Modugno in the Province of Bari.
This shell with the superscription "B*___" written on the outside indicate "(stutata) + (controbomba)". The complete effect is in the first break a mosaic of color bombettes with a long delay which shows the effect "stutata". In this first break there will be 4 layers of 7 color bombettes in each layer, 28 bombettes make a large mosaic.
In the second break a bouquet with a heart of blue spherical stars and rings of red cylindrical stars.
There are 2 of this type of 21 cm caliber, 2-break shells in this evening display.
A "classic" in the Italian serie of fermate of 21 cm caliber!!
When you translate this eveningfermata to a daylightshell it becomes: "(stutata) + (controcolpo)".
A wheelbarrow with the "fermata" shells of 16 and 21 cm caliber. In the front a fermata of 16 cm caliber and in the middle the fermata with the superscription "B*___" of 21 cm caliber.
The wheelbarrow with the two "fermata" shells with this superscription "B*___". "B*" = Baranza = this means that you shoot "one" mosaic of bombettes with a long delay. "___" = controbomba = a large bouquet.
Giuseppe Bruscella taking this shell to load in the mortar. Giuseppe is already the fourth generation of the Bruscella family. It started with Michele Bruscella, he has 4 sons: Giuseppe, Bartolomeo, Vincenzo en Antonio. The oldest son Giuseppe has 3 sons: Michele, Raffaele and Bartolomeo. His second son Raffaele is the father of Giuseppe.
Because of the smoke in Siano I show the video with this effect of the openingshow of San Trifone in Adelfia on the 9th of November 2019 by the company Piromagia.
The difference is that in this show this effect was used as a "bomba da tiro", so with a "controcolpo" = bottom-shot.
In the video of EarthshakerPyro: between 2:46 and 3:00 minutes.
In the video of Spolette: between 4:35 and 4:48 minutes.
